This painting is an expression of my deep love for the native birds and unique light of the Blue Mountains. I am endlessly fascinated by the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos that visit the edge of the park near my studio.
In this piece, I focused on the contrast between the birds' deep, patterned feathers and the luminous canopy surrounding them, painting the background as a series of soft, floating discs of light to mirror that late-afternoon sun. It’s a large-scale piece designed to bring a sense of natural rhythm, warmth, and peaceful perspective into a room.
